FAQs
Here are some commonly asked questions:
Q. What age does baby massage start? Baby massage can be completed from birth, however we do not use oil until a baby is 4 weeks old
Q. What age can baby massage be completed up to? There is no upper age limit. However, many groups tend to advertise up to pre-crawling. This is more about class management rather than the baby outgrowing the benefits.
Q. What pressure should the strokes be applied? Research has shown that moderate pressure is most beneficial. We want the skin to move. Place your thumb on your hand to the pressure which causes the skin to go white briefly – this is the pressure we are looking for. Field et al (2004) found that 'infants who were massaged with moderate pressure were increasingly alert, whilst their counterparts who received light pressure massage were more excitable, agitated and fussy.’
Q. What happens if the baby cries in class? Baby massage groups are baby led. Therefore babies may be fed / have nappies changed as required. Crying is a form of communication and is expected in class. We follow a baby’s cues and behaviours and only continue the massage if baby offers permission
Q. Are their occasions when baby massage is not appropriate? If baby is unwell with a temperature. On areas where a baby’s skin is broken. Within 72 hours of immunisations. There are some medical conditions were baby massage may not be appropriate. If baby has a diagnosed medical condition, then doctors approval is required.

FAQs
Here are some commonly asked questions:
Q. What age does baby yoga start? Baby Yoga is suitable from 8 weeks and is subject to a satisfactory hip check
Q. What age can baby yoga be completed up to? There is no upper age limit. However, many groups tend to advertise up to pre-crawling. This is more about class management rather than the baby outgrowing the benefits. There also becomes a point when baby is too heavy for mum to safely complete the moves. It can make things a lot easier to advertise 8 weeks - crawling
Q. What happens if the baby cries in class? Baby yoga groups are baby led. Therefore babies may be fed / have nappies changed as required. Crying is a form of communication and is expected in class. We follow a baby’s cues and behaviours and they can sit in or out of any particular part of the class
Q. Are their occasions when baby yoga is not appropriate? If baby is unwell with a temperature. Within 72 hours of immunisations. There are some medical conditions were baby yoga may not be appropriate. If baby has a diagnosed medical condition, then doctors approval is required. It is also important that mum obtains GP permission if she has any medical conditions
Q. Do I have to be fit to participate in baby yoga? A high level of fitness is not required. Baby Yoga focuses on the connection between infant and child, relaxation exercises for parent and child, and gentle stretches. However, if you have a health condition it is advised you seek guidance from your GP before completing the class.
